“I think one of the reasons I’ve been successful is that I can see things before other people do,” says American DJ and producer Diplo. “I’ve always been able to do it.” The rising star that Diplo and his electronic music project Major Lazer are riding now is Stromae’s. With this remix, gone is the sodade of the original “Ave Cesaria.” This beat-heavy version is destined to be a club and festival banger on both sides of the Atlantic this summer.

The remix still retains the integrity and charm of the original. No surprise, given Major Lazer’s own cross-cultural influences. This confluence of Stromae and Major Lazer should give each career a boost as they each work to expand their audience in different directions: Stromae in the US and Major Lazer internationally.
It’s not the first time the two have collaborated. In August 2013, at the Paris festival Rock en Seine, Stromae made an unannounced appearance on the stage with Major Lazer. Together they performed a mashup of “Papaoutai” and “Watch out for This (Bumaye)”, a collaboration that, with the addition of some backstage antics, gave us Stromae’s YouTube Lesson 27.
