Stromae sets new record for most awards at MIA Ceremony in Belgium
At the MIA (Music Industry Awards) ceremony yesterday in Vilvoorde, Belgium, Stromae won four out of the five awards he was nominated for: 2014 Best Solo Man, Best Live Act, Best Pop, and Best Video (for “Ta Fête”). The awards are given by the Flemish music industry, but not only was the French-speaking musician the most-decorated artist of the evening: he also broke the previous record to become the artist who holds the most-ever awards from the MIA’s. He now holds a total of 14 MIA awards. For the year 2010, he won “Hit of the Year” as well as “Best Breakthrough.” At last year’s ceremony, he won in a total of eight categories, every category he was nominated for.
See video here of Stromae receiving his third award of the evening, for “Best Pop.” He embraces his mother, manager Dimitri Borrey, and brother and Mosaert colleague Luc Junior Tam before heading up to the stage.
