Amateur artist Nyasa Lake, who we discovered on Twitter several months ago, re-imagines Stromae’s world so compellingly that we can’t resist sharing her work. Nyasa (not her real name) lives in Los Angeles, California, where she finds great inspiration in Stromae’s work.
When Stromae was in Los Angeles for his recent concerts, Nyasa was there with her sketchbook. Cathy (@iamclapclap, who attended every concert on the North American tour) introduced her to Thomas (Stromae’s producer and tour manager) when he walked by as they were waiting in line before the concert. Thomas looked at her book for some time, saying nothing, and then asked if he could borrow it. She didn’t know then what he planned to do with it. But when he returned it to her 30-40 minutes later, it was during the opening act of the show, and Nyasa was surprised to discover a message from Stromae written inside the cover. After the show, Nyasa met Stromae, and he told her he had very much appreciated her drawings and had taken pictures of them.
Next step: Stromae’s performance at — where else — the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival!
We would like to thank Nyasa for sharing her beautiful drawings so freely. She Tweeted, “Once my drawing is uploaded online, it becomes everybody’s, not only mine. At least I think so. I don’t need your agreement with this.”
